Breaking the Cycle Before It Begins

It's lovely to get flowers or breakfast in bed on Mother's Day, but the greatest gift is seeing our children grow up to become good humans. 

Unfortunately, teen years are really tricky. 

It's those moments when small decisions - seemingly "not a big deal" lead to other "not a big deal" decisions and then it suddenly snowballs into big, ugly consequences. 

And we are left asking "how did that happen?"

😱 2 weeks ago, my car was stolen from outside my house. Some "kids" broke in, grabbed my handbag from downstairs and took off in my car. 

I know they were teenagers because:
😱 they used my debit card 3 times at Macca's between 1am and 7am.
😱 I've received 2 significant speeding fines from that night
😱 My car was found the next day - just 10km away - in good condition with the exception of stinking like weed and having a lot of Maccas rubbish.

These were not master criminals or organised crime. These were teenagers.

Many people have said to me, "I hope they catch them and make them pay" or "I hope the police throw the book at them".

They've racked up some really serious crimes 
😡 breaking and entering
😡 stealing a car / wallet
😡 driving recklessly 
😡 fraud / identity theft. 

But as a mum, with teenagers of my own, I don't want them locked up. 

I want them to learn from their mistakes so they don't do it again, and not have this bad decision lead down a dark road.

It's also why I'm doing the ADLAND BAILOUT, where I will be locked up, finger printed, and spend the night in a cell - to raise money for my bail.
 
This charity raises funds to prevent youth incarceration (those aged 10-17), because once incarcerated, 85% return within 12 months. 

INCARCERATION IS NOT THE SOLUTION

As mums - we try to keep our kids on the right path - but there are so many influences beyond us, and we all know how well "telling" a teenager works!
