Not about the eggs
Apr 07, 2026
The thing I love most about Easter? The Easter egg hunt.
It never fails to light up everyone’s inner child.
In our house it’s now an “adults only” Easter egg hunt - mainly because the kids are adults.
But that in no way takes away the fun.
David and I count the eggs being hidden… then hide them in the most difficult places imaginable - inside and outside.
Only when no one can find any more (including us — the ones who hid them) do we announce a winner.
Oh - and there are always special eggs worth bonus points, so the outcome is never predictable.
To say this is a competitive sport is an understatement.
In fact, our hiding skills have become so honed that we inevitably find the last eggs randomly throughout the year.
But this is what family is really about.
The rituals.
The memories.
The time and space to laugh, connect, eat, and enjoy just being together.
Four days of relaxed family time — simply to be.
In a world that moves fast and asks a lot of us, these moments matter more than we realise. I hope everyone got to spend some time with the people who make your life meaningful.
And if there happens to be chocolate involved… even better!
