Where Is My Life Heading?

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself, "Where is my life truly heading?"

This question often lingers, rolling about subconsciously in our minds as we go about the daily hustle - unsure of how to answer this. There is no quick answer - in fact, it can be frustratingly murky and elusive, crashing into our minds without any clues or further clarity... 

Which is why I like to discern the subtleties between passion, purpose, and calling - and how they gently synchronise to move us forward in this intricate dance of self-discovery.

For me, passion is that vibrant, irrepressible energy that fuels your talents, gifts and flow. It's about engaging in activities that you love and leave you feeling invigorated and alive. These are the moments when the world fades away and you are simply being. It is not about success or failure, as embracing your passions is a way of honouring yourself, of tuning into what genuinely brings you joy. 

Purpose is the blend of passion and service, transforming your joy into something that matters to others. It's about finding fulfilment in what we love, and turning this into actions that ripple beyond ourselves. For some, this could mean teaching, for others it may be mentoring. It could be as simple as coaching the under-6 soccer club. Purpose ironically is not about what you gain, but what you give, which makes it so grounding and powerful.

A calling is an encounter with destiny—a magnetic force that draws us toward something greater than ourselves. Unlike passion or purpose, which spring from within, a calling feels like it's reaching out to us from somewhere beyond. It could be an unarticulated dream suddenly taking form, or an unexpected opportunity that the universe mysteriously unveils. Answering your calling feels joyous and effortless, as if the path before you has been waiting for just this moment, and resistance is beyond you. It's an invitation from the Universe - perfectly timed and designed for this moment, and this now-ready version of you.

As we seek to unlock our true selves and full potential, it's vital to remember that passion, purpose, and calling are not static; they evolve as we grow. You might find yourself cycling through phases in life where passion leads to purpose, and then purpose transforms into a calling—or vice versa. It's a dynamic energy - one that ebbs and flows, and asks for our patience and openness.

So next time your mind whispers "where is my life heading?", ask yourself instead "what passions am I nurturing right now? How might they serve others? What signs or opportunities is the universe placing in my path?" 

The signals are always there, they are just waiting to be found...
